What is Tessera?
Tessera is an AI companion that talks to you like a friend, asking about your interests, how you think, what you care about, and what gets you excited. There are no right or wrong answers. Nobody is grading you. You just talk, and Tessera listens.
Over time, it starts showing you things about yourself you might not have noticed: patterns in what you like, how you approach problems, what kind of college major — and the careers that follow — would actually feel like a fit for you.
What a conversation looks like
That's it. Tessera asks, you answer, it moves on. No lectures, no judgment, no "have you considered..." Just good questions.
What you actually find out
After a few sessions, Tessera starts connecting the dots. Here is the kind of thing it might tell you:
"You light up when you talk about building things and solving problems, but you prefer working on your own terms rather than following instructions. That combination points toward fields like engineering, game design, or starting your own thing."
The more you chat, the more specific the insights get. It is not just "you like science." It is "here's what kind of science — undergrad biology, pre-med, computational research — here's why it fits your personality, and here are the real paths to get there."
How it works — and how to get the most out of it
You start with a quick setup, about 10 minutes. After that, you come back for short conversations, usually around 10 minutes, whenever you feel like it. You pick what to talk about, you go at your own pace, and you can stop anytime and pick up right where you left off.
~10 minutes a chat
Short, low-pressure conversations. No cramming, no marathon sessions, no homework.
A few times a week
A little and often beats one big push. Regular check-ins are what build the picture.
Your own pace
Start and stop whenever you want. Tessera always picks up exactly where you left off.
What to expect, and when
Tessera doesn't hand you answers on day one — it earns them as it gets to know you. Here is roughly how the picture builds:
-
1
Your first few chats
The first patterns show up — the kinds of things that genuinely light you up.
-
2
About a week
A fuller picture of what you're actually into starts to take shape.
-
3
A couple of weeks
Personality insights kick in — how you think, make decisions, and work best.
-
4
Several weeks and beyond
It all comes together into real career directions that actually fit you — and the concrete paths to get there.
Why it's worth sticking with
Here's the thing: the picture only gets sharper the more you talk. One quick session can't capture who you are — but small, honest conversations over a few weeks can. The teens who stick with it are the ones who walk away with something real: a clear sense of what fits them, and why. Keep showing up, and Tessera keeps getting to know you better.
Your conversations are private.
Anonymous
No last name, email, phone, or address — nothing can be traced back to you.
Private
Your parents, school, and other users never see your conversations. Only you decide what to share.
Never sold or trained on
Your conversations are never used for advertising, marketing, or AI training.
Your parents, your school, and other users never see your conversations. Tessera's AI is provided by Anthropic, which processes your messages in real time and may temporarily retain them for up to 30 days for safety purposes, after which they are deleted. Your conversations are never used for advertising, marketing, or AI training.
Tessera does build a picture of your interests and personality over time. If you want, you can share those broad insights with your parents. But that is always your choice. You are never asked or nudged to share. And even if you do, they only see the big themes, never what you actually said.
We don't know who you are
Tessera never asks for your last name, your email, your address, or anything that could identify you personally. Here is everything we collect:
- Your first name (so Tessera knows what to call you)
- Your age and birthday month/day (to adapt the conversation to your age)
- Your grade (9th through gap year)
- Your gender (optional; you can skip this)
- Your state (to understand regional context)
- Your school type (public, private, charter, or homeschool)
- Your GPA range (optional; you can skip this too)
- Session summaries (short recaps, not the full conversation text)
- Interest and personality insights that Tessera figures out from your conversations
That's it. No last name. No email. No phone number. No location tracking. None of this can be traced back to you as a person. Your data is stored securely in the cloud, encrypted and protected.
Safe to be yourself
Tessera does not give you advice. It does not tell you what to do. It does not try to steer you in any direction. There is no right answer. There is no wrong answer. You can be completely honest about what you think and feel. That is the whole point.
No one is going to sit you down and ask, "So, what do you want to do with your life?" Tessera takes that pressure away. It turns that big, stressful question into small, easy conversations that happen naturally over time. And when your parents ask "what's the plan?" you have something real to show them.
